| Check your home insurance carefully to see if you and your bike(s) are adequately covered. If not, Mr Cycles recommends Cycleguard insurance.
Cycleguard offer five cycle insurance products, each of which cover specific cycling needs:
• Cycleguard is their all-encompassing bicycle insurance policy - if you have a bike and want to protect it (and yourself) choose that.
• Roadcare only provides liability cover, so if your bicycle is already covered under another policy and you only want liability cover, Roadcare is for you.
• Cycleguard 4 Kids is a great, low cost bicycle insurance policy for children of 12 to 15 years.
• Cycleguard Rescue is a standalone bicycle roadside recovery policy (an option in Cycleguard) which you can purchase for any bicycle whether insured or not.
• Cyclguard Triathlon is for those who take part in triathlons or train for triathlons and other cycle sports events.
LOCKS
For your insurance to be valid and your bike(s) to be safe you will need a good lock (if nothing else it'll stop the kids borrowing them!).
Cycleguard follow the guidance of the Master Locksmiths Association and their 'Sold Secure' guidelines, which are this:
Bikes valued under £250 will need a lock rated as 'Sold Secure Bronze', or higher.
Bikes valued under £1500 will need a lock rated as 'Sold Secure Silver', or higher.
Bikes valued £1500, or higher, will need a lock rated as 'Sold Secure Gold'.
